13/40 The Old Stores
GV II
Formerly a row of 3 cottages, left cottage became Post
Office/stores, now all one dwelling. Former P.O. left, C19,
cottages right, C18. Former P.O., coursed squared limestone with
ashlar quoins and limestone slate roof. Former cottages right,
limestone rubble with thatched roof, with brick stacks at former
gable ends. Former P.O.: 2 storeys. Cottages right: one storey
and attic each lit by single dormers under thatched hoods with C18
casements with leaded lights. The whole now 3-windowed. One 3-
light flat-chamfered stone-mullioned window. One, 2 and 3-light
C19/20 metal casements mostly with horizontal glazing bars, some
with brick segmental heads, in former P.O. facade. Other C20
casements at rear. Blocked doorway with window inserted, in
former P.O. front. Interior: large stone fireplace with bressumer
against far right wall.
