Large country house, C17, rebuilt C18. Ashlar and rubble limestone, with rubble
plinth from earlier house; stone slate roof; ashlar chimneys with moulded caps.
L-plan; doorway in angle; two storeys with attic. Generally fenestration is
irregular with 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows without hood moulding.
A 3-light in ground floor of west wing, and a single light to upper floor. C19 glazed
outshut passage leads to front doorway. Four hipped dormers facing south and west.
Three-window north elevation: square flat-roofed central porch with single light
over; roof hipped in north-east corner. Two C18 sashes in east elevation, which is
greatly altered. Attached out building at south end.
Interior has small panelled room of early C17 with chimney-piece of fluted pilasters,
dentil courses and raised lozenge decoration. Some panelling removed from
Brimpsfield House (qv). Larger room panelled C18. Timber staircase of early C17
with turned balusters. Heavy timber beams and posts in kitchen. Tunnel vaulted
