Canal footbridge, carrying towpath of Anglesey Branch over the disused
Ogley locks section of the Wyrley & Essington Canal, which was opened in
1797 and closed in 1954. Bridge dated 1829. Cast iron with brick abut-
ments. Single elliptical arch. Each side formed from two castings, bolted
to a "keystone" in the centre. Parapets pierced to form lattice pattern
of saltire crosses. One spandrel is inscribed; "HORSELEY IRON WORKS 1829".
Part of this bridge is in Hammerwick CP (qv).
