Large house, later a school (empty at time of survey, July 1984). 1874 enlargement
of Hall by Grayson for J L Burns Lindow. Coursed, squared rubble with quoins
on chamfered plinth; embattled parapet carried on moulded eaves with gargoyles
at angles. Hipped, graduated slate roofs with stone chimneys. Two storeys.
3-bay entrance front (2:1) has offset plank door, with decorative ironwork, in
full-height porch. Mullioned windows (first floor transomed). Long and varied
garden front. Listed as it forms an integral part of Irton Hall; C20 additions
not of interest.
