attached outbuilding

(Previously known as Low Hundhouse). Farmhouse with attached shippon and hay
loft under one roof. C17 with later alterations. Roughcast rendered walls with
slate drip stone, graduated green slate roof. 3 chimneys. 2 storeys. Entrance
to left has large porch with slated pitched roof, side benches and an oak
studded door which is probably original. Entrance to right has C20 porch and
door. 4 C19 casements to ground floor, 6 windows (various) above. Shippon has
slated lean-to and canopy and 2 small openings to first floor. Interior has C18
staircase with turned balusters and moulded string; small stair with stone
treads and winders; remains of "beef loft" entered from bedroom; wall painting
with insciption from Luke Ch. 11 "cast thy bread upon the waters...."; old doors
and beams. See RCHM p.224.
