6/35 Statue of A. Ashworth

II

Statue of Alderman G.L. Ashworth J.P. (1823 - 1873).
Erected by public subscription 1877. Stone statue on marble
plinth. Statue stands on square section plinth with cornice
and cyma moulded base, rising from stylobate. Ashworth was
twice mayor of Rochdale and was largely responsible for
promoting the building of the town hall.
