House in row. c1800. Rendered, slate roof.
EXTERIOR: a large, rather grand house with double mansard
roof, in 3 storeys, attic and basement, 2 windows; 6-pane
flat-roofed dormers above a 2-storey bow with 8:12:8-pane
sashes and dentil cornices with to the left a 12-pane sash at
first and second floor. Ground floor bow oriel is recessed
under an overhang on 2 slender cast-iron columns, with a flat
tripartite sash to the basement.
To the left, on 6 stone steps with nosings, a panelled door
under plain fanlight and with reeded jambs is set deep in an
arched reveal, with outer doorcase having reeded pilasters and
arch to square stops with circular embellishment. A dwarf wall
with iron railing to the basement area, a small modillion
cornice, carried across the top of the bow, blocking course
and coped parapet. The gables have raised coped verges, with 2
rendered stacks.
The rear is also in original detail, with a single flat-roofed
dormer with wide 12-pane (4x3) sash, behind a coped parapet,
and above tripartite sashes with glazing bars at 2 levels. To
the right is a very lofty staircase sash, 3 panes wide and 7
deep. The gables are raised and coped.
INTERIOR: not inspected, but a dogleg stair with stick
balustrade is opposite the entrance, and panelled doors in
moulded architraves remain.
