Circa 1700 (indicated by central break forward, a Holderness feature). These 2
dwellings were formerly 1 large house adjoining Norwood House. 2 storeys and
attic in red brick with asbestos tile and modern pantile roof with gabled
sliding casement dormers. Wood and iron gutters. Eaves cornice broken to
centre. Moulded stone base to house. Break forward containing main doors and
window over. Now 4 windows, gauged flat arches, painted, near flush frame
sashes, mainly with glazing bars remaining and with end former windows now
filled in. Ground floor has 3 windows and 3 doors. 2 wood doorcases with
fluted Doric pilasters and entablatures broken over these, shelf cornices. 1
door of 6 fielded panels and 1 modern door, 4-light rectangular fanlights.
Staircase is mid C18: closed string, plain newels, moulded handrail, turned
balusters with square knops. Various mid C19 chimneypieces. Ground floor has a
Beverley-type peat-burning fireplace.
