1/21 The Old Rectory

House. Late C17/early C18, probably with earlier origins. Late C19 cross
wing to left; later extensions to rear. Original block of red brick,
colour-washed, rendered to right; pantiled roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Ground
floor: boarded door in entrance lobby with basket arch flanked by 8-pane
sashes with glazing bars. 16-pane replacement windows to right. First
floor: 16-pane sash with sill over door, sash with glazing bars to centre,
16-pane sash to right. Modillion brick eaves cornice, roof dormers with 4-
pane sashes, external end and axial stacks, raised gables to right. Late
C19 wing to left: ground floor has 16-pane sash to centre flanked by 8-pane
sashes all under segmental brick arches. First floor has similar
fenestration. Oversailing eaves on shaped brackets, axial stack. Interior:
few original items survive within the house but the entrance hall contains
heavy square joists to the room above and a C19 or early C20 fireplace which
incorporates some reused C17 carved oak panels with Latin inscriptions.
