House. Mid C19 for Yarborough Estate with later alterations; renovations
and interior alterations of c1980. Red brick in Flemish bond. Welsh slate
roof. Double-depth plan with 2-room central entrance-hall front. 2
stories, 3 bays; symmetrical. Flight of 5 stone steps with plain wrought-
iron railings to round-headed entrance with painted rubbed-brick arch
containing recessed panelled door flanked by fluted Greek Doric columns
carrying entablature with guttae and modillioned cornice beneath recessed
fanlight with margin bars. 2-light casements with stone sills beneath
painted rubbed-brick cambered arches; ground-floor window openings shortened
in later C19 - early C20. Plain wooden eaves board. Hipped roof with pair
of axial stacks. Interior: open-well staircase with ramped and wreathed
handrail, cut string, plain ribbed balusters and clustered newel; ribbed
architrave to front door; boldly moulded cornices to ground-floor front
rooms; panelled doors in architraves throughout.
