Cottage. Probably C17 or early C18, extended in C19. Timber-frame
plastered and painted brick panels on rubble base, hipped tiled roof, large
central external local type rubble stack with detached brick shaft to road
front. Garden front: one storey and attic, 3 bays, regular fenestration:
centre and right bays have C19 metal casements and left bay has small 4-pane
wooden casement, 3 C20 gabled dormers one to each bay, entrance by C20
panelled door to left bay. Lower one bay extension to left has two storeys
and is possibly early C19. Panelling is regular to 2 right hand bays and is
3 panels high to wall-plate; a deliberate decorative frieze effect is created
by a lower panel height between windows and eaves and beneath centre and
right windows. Tile left hand bay is apparently an extension since it has
smaller scantling, like the lower extension to the left, and sortie brickwork
painted to resemble timber-framing. Plank weatherings to ground floor
windows. Cellar to right hand bay.
