Cottage. Probably late C17 or early C18 with later alterations. Timber-frame with plaster and brick infill. Small brick and weatherboarded extension. Welsh slate roof and large extruded sandstone rubble rear stack with brick shaft. Rectangular two-bay plan aligned north-west/south-east with south-west projection to centre. One storey and attic. North-west elevation has gable to left and low weatherboarded part with stack to right. Gable has one attic window, a 2-light mid-C20 casement. Ground floor has a 3-light casement to right of centre and ledged door, probably mid-C19, to left. North-east elevation to road has two mid-C20 casements, each of 2-lights to ground floor. Frame is three square panels high from cill to wall-plate. Interior inaccessible at time of re-survey (November 1986). The cottage is said to have once been a post office. (RCHM. Vol III, p 187).
