with rendered infill on high sandstone rubble plinth; steeply pitched tiled
roofs. 3 bay main range, rear wing adjoins north bay at junction of which

and has 3 slender, long octagonal shafts of mid C19 date. 2 storeys, attic
and half-cellar beneath entire front range; small, square panelled wall frame,
ground floor of main range has close-set vertical studding; windows to main
storeys are regularly spaced either 4 or 5 light, ovolo-moulded wooden mullions
and transomes with tiled weatherings, and project slightly beyond the wall-frame
on carved console brackets; gable ends have similar fenestration and attic
lights; casements to cellar. Main entrance to rear central bay has C20 timber
door and tiled timber porch; also rear entrance in east gable end and door to
cellar in south gable end. Interior Front range has a 2 purlin roof with
long wind-braces from ridge to lower purlin. Ground and first floor ceiling
of 2 longitudinal main beams with an intermediate secondary beam in each bay,
jointed at the front into the centre of the window lintel; all the main beams
are chamfered and stopped. Some C17 broad oak floor boards survive. Main
staircase in central bay, and fireplaces are all C20 replacements. Rare

and facade; transitional between the timber-framed tradition and early C18
brick houses of similar proportions.
