GV II*

Farmhouse, now house. C17, extended c1910 by Sir E Guy Dawber. Timber-
frame, regular square infill panels, continuous tiled roofs, 4 chimneys with
brick shafts. "L" plan extended into "H" plan. 2 storeys, 1:2:1 windows,
2 gabled cross-wings; weatherings to horizontal framing members of south
west and north east gables; regularly placed c1910 casements. C17 entrance
to north west end. Interior: heavy ceiling beams to C17 ground floor
rooms; Late C17 dog-leg staircase with decorative plank balusters which

The gardens, which are internationally famous, provide with a stream and
small weir a beautiful setting for the house.
