II
Former hop kilns and malt house. Probably c1832. Brick with plain tiled two-span roofs. Large rectangular plan aligned north/south. Two levels, attic and cellar. All openings have cambered heads.
West range has a two-light and a three-light window at first floor level and six ventilation slits in its west side elevation. Attic lights in gable ends. East range has six large doors in its east side elevation and there are six complete cowls on its roof ridge.
Interior: six kilns with drying floors in east range; west range has long germinating floor with access through to each kiln. Staircase and ancillary rooms at north end. Large vaulted cellars.
At the north end of the west elevation projects a three-bay C18 wing of two levels with dentilled eaves cornice. North elevation has two altered ground floor windows with cambered heads, two wood-mullioned upper level windows and a central loft door above a square archway for cart access.
The hop kilns and malt house are probably contemporary with the barn and stables (qv), dated 1832.
Forms a group with Court Farmhouse (qv), the barn and stables (qv) and the granary (qv) and is prominently situated on a ridge south of the Church of St Andrew (qv).
