Farmhouse. Early C17, extended late C17 and mid-C18 with further mid-C19
alterations. Timber-framed with rendered infill on rubble base, some
sandstone rubble walling and machine tiled roof with brick ridge stack.
Two plus one framed bays aligned north/south with framed continuous lean-to
outshut at rear and external rubble chimney with offsets and two brick stacks
at south end. Single-bay C18 rubble addition at north end. Single storey
and attic with dormers. Framing: three rows of panels from sill to wall-
plate, tie-beam truss at south gable end with one raking strut visible.
East front elevation: ground floor windows are C19 casements with plank
weatherings; there is a 4-light window, a 3-light and a single- light window
beneath a continuous weathering, and a 2-light window. Above is a 2-light
window at eaves level and a gabled half-dormer with a 2-light casement in the
late C17 part and two large gabled dormers with 2-light casements and plank
weatherings in the early C17 part. Main entrance in earlier part has a lean-to
slate porch on shaped brackets and a C19 ledged and battened door. Also half-
glazed door in later part. The C18 addition at the north end is of two storeys
and has a 3-light casement on both floors. (RCHM, Herefs III, p 72, item 35).
