Farmhouse and adjoining dairy, cow house and hop kiln. Early C19
remodelling of probably C17 structure with mid-C20 alterations. Rendered
brick and sandstone rubble with some timber-framing and brick infill;
plain tiled roofs. H-plan; central three-bay part aligned north/south
with two-bay cross-wings and two large chimneys with four grouped stacks
at junction with cross-wings. Two storeys and cellar; gables have
moulded bargeboards and finials with pendants. Main east elevation: 1:3:1
bays; windows have hood moulds with returns; three-bay part has small
central gable; two ground floor 2-light C20 casements; three first floor
2-light mullion and transom windows; central entrance has C19 flat-roofed
porch with a 4-centred archway, moulded cornice and parapet above with a
raised central section; 4-centred doorway within. Left cross-wing gable
end has a ground floor 2-light C20 casement and first floor 2-light mullion
and transom window. Right cross-wing gable end has a ground floor 3-light
C20 casement and a first floor 2-light C20 casement. Interior not inspected.
Lean-to addition to rear centre. Dairy adjoins right cross-wing at rear
west gable end. Sandstone rubble with plain tiled roof. Two levels; two
bays; south elevation has a large square-headed archway and a gabled dormer
with a pair of rectangular lights. Cow house adjoins dairy at west gable
end. Sandstone rubble and brick with plain tiled roof. Two levels with
dentilled eaves cornice. South elevation has double doors and two upper
level 2-light windows. Hop kiln adjoins north elevation of cow house;
brick with bituminous roof covering; circular plan. Fall Farmhouse is
part of the Winnington Estate.
