House. c1650, restored mid-C20. Timber-framed on brick plinth, painted brick
and rendered infill, plain tiled roof. Two framed bays, large external chimney
at north gable end with bread oven and detached stack. Single storey and attic
with dormers. Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight brace
across lower corner of south bay at front, collar and tie-beam trusses with three
struts to collar and V-strut in apex. Front elevation: ground floor has three 2-
light casements and two gabled dormers, one having a 3-light and one a 2-light
casement. Main entrance in C20 single-storey extension at north gable end.
Interior not inspected but reputed to have stop-chamfered main beams, the one
in the hall bay set transversely and the parlour beam set longitudinally (Charles).
A C20 lean-to extension adjoins south gable end and there is a large C20 addition
to the rear of the north bay. The house was known as Albutt's Cottage prior to
