House. Cl7 with early C18, late C19 and mid-C20 alterations and additions.
Part timber-framed with rendered and painted brick infill, part painted
and rendered brick; plain tiled roofs, brick chimney to main ridge and
north side and rear of south wing. C17 part of 2 framed bays on north/south
axis; single bay wing added during early C18 to south-east to form L-plan;
late C19 T-shaped addition at north gable end formed by a 2-bay timber-
framed cross-wing and a small, single bay brick wing at the centre of its
north side elevation; an apsidal extension projects from the eastern angle
of the T-plan. C17 part is single storey with attic and dormers; later
additions are two storey and attic. Framing: C17 part: framing exposed to
rear and south gable end; irregularly sized panels, 4 from sill to wall-plate,
collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts in gable end; late C19 cross-
wing has 4 square panels from sill to wall-plate, the front gable end is
jettied and has a large bracket on the left side, and the gable ends have
collar and tie-beam trusses with queen struts. Front elevation: gambrel
roof added to central old part making continuous overhang with jetty to
right; 3 ground floor casements beneath old part, gabled dormer with tile-
hung cheeks and casement above. Jettied gable end has a ground floor case-
ment and ledged and battened door with side lights, 3 first floor casements
and a pair of attic lights. Apsidal, single storey projection is rendered,
with moulded cornice and paired rectangular casements on north-east side;
C18 wing has 3-course bands between storeys, a ground and first floor case-
ment and an attic light; there is a gabled dormer with tile-hung cheeks and
casement in angle with main part. Interior not inspected.
