House. C15, altered and extended mid-C20. Timber-framed, painted brick
and rendered infill, brick replacement walling, tall sandstone rubble
plinth, half-hipped to return, plain tiled roof, rebuilt brick stack to
ridge. Former cruck hall house of which probably three framed bays
survive with inserted chimney in through-passageway; single storey, attic
with dormers and cellar. Framing: full cruck truss survives in right
gable end, mainly two irregularly sized panels from sill to wall-plate.
Front elevation: three square casements, a large multi-paned casement,
and two gabled dormers with 2-light casements. Interior not inspected.
At the right side of the front elevation is probably a former door (see
shaped doorhead). Also at rear left is a pair of blocked narrow rectangular
openings with semi-circular arched heads. A C20 single storey hipped roof
extension adjoins the right gable end. A large C20 two-storey addition
adjoins the left gable end, forming an L-plan and in which the present
main entrance is situated.
