Gazebo with grotto below. Early C18. Gazebo of finely-jointed red brick in Flemish
bond with decorative vertical strips of paler, pink, brick; ashlar dressings; roof
not visible. Grotto of red brick lined with mortar set with iron slag and shells,
much of lining gone. Gazebo is square on plan, one storey, having: chamfered
plinth, rubbed-brick flat-arched opening to each side flanked by similarly-arched
narrow recessed panels, each with brick cornice, north and south sides each with
sash with glazing bars and exposed sash box, west and east sides with double
part-glazed doors and 4-pane overlights. Parapet with 3 panels to each face and
moulded stone cornice. Interior: fielded panelling to walls and reveals; cornice,

mound formed of earth covering brick cross-vaulted grotto which has round-arched
