Detached house. c1889. By Harry Measures; built by William
Willet & Son. Red brick ground floor; upper floors yellow
brick with red brick dressings and pilasters at angles. Tiled
hipped and gabled roofs dormers, tall brick chimney-stacks
having projecting cornices and moulded brick eaves cornice.
Asymmetrical design.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, attic and semi-basement. Irregular
fenestration of 5 windows. Most sashes with glazing bars to
upper halves only, gauged brick flat arches and keystones.
Slightly recessed left hand entrance with brick portico having
a round-arched entrance with keystone on pillars, enriched
terracotta frieze with pedimented feature and copper ogee
profile hood. Round-arched doorway with narrow overlight
following line of arch. 2 sashes with stained glass to each
floor above; moulded brick sill bands continue across the
facade becoming cornices. Central slightly projecting bay has
3-light transom and mullion stained glass window to ground
floor and paired sashes to upper floors; scrolled pediment.
Right hand bay with 3-light canted bay window having
continuous bracketed sill rising from the semi-basement
through the 1st floor and terminating with a parapet to the
2nd floor group of 3 sashes. Crow stepped gable with keyed
oculus and finial.
