House. 1570-77 restored 1976-80. Brick with pantiled roof. Latin cross plan
with 2 storeyed porch to east of long arm. 2 storeys and attic. East front
on plinth offset at first floor. Gabled tower porch with chamfered corners.
4-centred arch over C20 door under hood of moulded brick on label stops. Similar
hood over first floor and attic windows. All windows are casements of 1976-
80. Cross wing to north gabled on kneelers with details as before, C20 porch
and French window to ground. Gabled roofs. Triple hexagonal flues to chimney
stack on square plinth at junction of cruciform. South gable wall rebuilt C18
with tumbling and internal stack. North gable on kneelers. Blocked attic
window. West elevation mirrors east. Cross wing substantially as that on east
with altered window openings and octagonal stepped corner turrets once with
pinnacles. Terracotta plaque in gable head dated 1577. Pair of engaged
octagonal pinnacles set against west wall of long arm opposite tower porch.
Interior of no interest save for chamfered bridging beam in lounge with sunk
hollow moulding inscribed T 1570 W.
