House, now public house. Circa 1840. Stucco with hipped slate roof. A
symmetrical composition of two storeys and five bays with clasping pilasters,
giant pilasters separating bays and with an eaves band. Windows have archi-
traves. Those on the first floor are sashed with glazing bars. Single-storey
porch now glazed, with antae, pilaster responds, and parapet. Chimneys to left
and right, towards front of end walls. The house was rebuilt by Henry Halford,
an iron merchant, who lived there between c1833 and c1846 (VCH, p 10).
