No 33 (The Tilted Barrel
Public House)
II
Public house. Mid-C19. Brick, rendered and painted at front, with slate roof.
Two storeys, three bays. Timber entablature above ground floor, which has canted
bay windows to the second and third bays. All ground floor windows are mid-C20
replacements. First floor windows have architraves and sill band. The left-hand
one is blind, the others are sashed. Door between second and third bays. Chimneys,
set forward of ridge, at left, between first and second bays, and between second
and third bays. The building was affected by mining subsidence at an early stage,
when the left-hand side of the facade sank considerably, leaving the left-hand
bay and gable wall with a particularly obvious lean.
