Circa 1395. The better of two surviving city gates, of which there were twelve. Sandstone. Embattlements. The passage way is blocked with the gatehouse converted into a dwelling. Original pointed arch with inset late C16 doorway with square chamfered band. Two restored C16 two-light mullions, ditto with trefoil heads on obverse side. Gargoyle.

Substantial remains of late C14 city wall abut to the north, and the whole is set in modern pleasure ground as Lady Herbert's Garden.

Forms a group with the City Gate, Cook Street.
