Probably of C17 origin and may well have been half timbered but recased-remodelled
in the early to mid C18. Two storeys and attic, red brick. Steep gable end clay
tile roof with flanking chimney stacks. Three dormers, the central one gabled,
the others hip-roofed. Five bays to front, originally symmetrical. Brick plat
bands over ground and first floor and dentil brick course to eaves. Four windows
to ground floor, one only 2 panes wide; first floor with 4 windows and a blank bay;
left hand windows closer set; all windows sashes in flush frames, glazing bars on
first floor only, under slightly cambered brick arches. Inside the staircase runs
the full height of house and is in a contemporary style but may well have been
largely reconstructed in the early C20. To rear lower, 2 storeys, south east wing,
partly pebbledashed, with casement windows, and a north-east 2 storey wing, almost
detached and nearly as tall as the main house, brick cased with plat band. The
south west gable end has purlin ends exposed and the structure may be partly of timber-
frame origin.
