Farmhouse. Early C17 with early C19 additions. Coursed ironstone C17
block, remainder of brick. Pantiled roofs. C17 house of 2 storeys in 3
bays, the east bay now incorporated into C19 addition. South front has
projecting full height porch under sloping roof. Arched entrance below
moulded hood. Above is a 2-light mullioned window, the mullions hollow
moulded. West bay with one similar 3-light window each floor, both with
hood moulds. Gabled roof with a gabled dormer set into porch roof. East
gable head with 2 blind ovals with keystones below a twin flued internal
gable-end stack. At eaves the gable parapet carries shaped limestone
obelisks. Rear of C17 range has opposing C20 door below a C19 casement and
in east bay one late C18 sash with glazing bars to each floor. These are
below C17 hoods. Early C19 additions in form of a tall brick cross wing
reducing in height to a second block further north. Both of 2 storeys, lit
through 2-or 3-light casements, with gabled roofs and ridge stacks.
Interior retains early C17 dog-leg staircase rising to attic. Moulded
closed string with turned balusters supporting moulded handrail. Square
newel posts with ball finials and ball pendants. Roof of tie beams,
principals and butt purlins.
