Parish church. Substantially C13 with C15 alterations. Ironstone with
ashlar dressings. West tower, nave, aisles and chancel. Lead roofs. 3
stage tower supported by clasping buttresses. Lancet west window and
lancets to north and south of ringing chamber. 2-light belfry windows of
shaft and plate tracery: punched quatrefoil. Corbel table below
crenellated parapet with angle pinnacles. Ironstone octagonal spire with
one tier gabled 2-light lucarnes to alternating facets. 2-light late C14
ogeed aisle windows under square hoods. South doorway with 3 orders of
shafts with nailhead and dog-tooth. Long gabled south porch. North aisle
doorway with dog-tooth. Clerestory added C15. 3 2-light windows each
side, those to south under triangular heads, those to north square. One
C13 lancet to north chancel, 3-light east window and 2 2-light Y tracery
south chancel windows. Interior. 3 bay arcade with circular piers on
waterholding bases. Polygonal capitals to north, circular to south and
with nailhead decoration. Double chamfered arches. Triple chamfered tower
arch with polygonal responds and double chamfered chancel arch. Nave roof
of canted tie beams dropping on solid arched braces to wall posts and
corbels. Moulded ridge piece and one pair moulded butt purlins. C15
chancel screen of 4 cusped ogee lights right and left of wavy central
opening. Moulded cornice above and traceried dado below. C16 chancel
roof. Canted tie beams with King post spur to ridge piece. One pair butt
purlins.
