II*
Parish Church of early C14, restored C19. Coursed and squared rubble throughout.
Buttressed low west tower with ogee arched openings to bell chamber, and low
broach spire with lunettes. Nave with clerestory with paired traceried lights
in square openings, south aisle and chancel, all parapetted externally.
Traceried windows to south aisle have hood moulds, but all window stone work
looks a C19 renewal. Blocked north doorway with round arched head and cushion
capitals, south door of C1300. Interior has double chamfered narrow arch
to west tower, nave arcade of 4 bays, double chamfered, with minimal capitals
to inner arch, and outer arches forming continuous hood mould. Double chamfered
chancel arch, Victorian reredos, piscina, sedilia and east window. Some C17
panelling to north of altar, and early C18 black and gilded wrought iron altar
rails, school of Robert Bakewell. Font, a plain square with chamfered corners
on solid stone base probably predates the Church.
