Cruck-framed farmhouse with shippon, all now house. Probably late C17 or
early C18, altered and extended. Handmade brick, steeply-pitched
corrugated sheet roof covering thatch, hipped at left end. Gable to
road. Long rectangular plan, 5 bays, the right half probably formerly
shippons and the right end an addition. Single storey, part lofted;
board door slightly left of ridge chimney at junction of 2nd and 3rd a
bays, 2 windows to left and 4 to right, all altered or inserted, and a
very small window in the eaves of the 3rd bay. Padstone and foot of
cruck blade visible at junction of the and 2nd bays. Interior: 3 full
cruck trusses of small scantling at the junctions of the 1st and 2nd, 2nd
and 3rd, and 4th and 5th bays (details concealed); loft with curvy
purlins and rafters with thatch ties in situ. Now rare survival of type
of building formerly typical of the Fylde.
