Lychgate, N gate, W gate and walls of c1850. Probably by W. Butterfield.
Coursed squared rubble ironstone with limestone dressings and coping.
Wooden open work and slate roof to lychgate. Walls, partly retaining
with buttresses, surround 4 sides of churchyard. The rubble stone is
striped with dressed stone and coped. Lychgate to E has half hipped roof,
gable facing, supported on open work and high stone plinth. 4 steps lead
up to landing whence 5 steps up to churchyard. A pair of gates on landing:
wooden with wrought iron spear head finials alternating with simple wooden
ones. N gate of stone with Gothic arch surrounded by sloping sides and
flat top. 2 buttresses to front. Within stone coped side walls 5 stone
steps, lead to landing whence 4 further steps lead to churchyard. On
landing pair of gates similar to those on the lychgate. The small W gate
has Gothic arched doorway with stone surround and wooden door.
