House, probably early C17 or earlier, with C19 extension (not included
in the item). Cruck frame, brick cladding, corrugated iron cover to
thatched roof. Two storeys and 2 bays, chimney stack at front of left
gable, another at right end incorporated in extension. Doors now in
right bay and in left gable; 2-light casement window at ground floor in
left bay, replacing earlier arched entrance with curved oak lintel in situ
but concealed; 1st floor has three 2-light windows, those at each side
being casements. Boxed eaves and boarded gable eaves.
Interior: a full cruck truss in the centre, and another at the right end,
with spurs to the walls, struts to tie beams, and windbraces; at ground
floor only the blades of the right cruck remain, but cruck truss between
bays retains its full frame of 4 posts, with rail in centre panel and
doorways each side, both having lintels Of Tudor-arch shape. Left bay
incorporates pantry (now bathroom) entered from right bay, its walls of
box-frame construction with wattle-and-daub infil. Right bay has 2
chamfered and stopped bridging beams, probably C18, and a fire window.
