7/6 Wyre Aqueduct (formerly listed as Garstang
17-4-1967 Aqueduct, Garstang)

Aqueduct carrying Lancaster Canal over River Wyre. Canal opened 1797,
engineer John Rennie. Sandstone blocks, in bands alternately rock-faced
and furrowed. Abutments concave on plan and battered. Single elliptical
arch with band around voussoirs. Entablature below solid parapet has
dentilled cornice. Above the arch the frieze is interrupted by a blank
panel with moulded border. Part of this aqueduct is in Garstang C.P.
(q.v.)
