Viaducts and revetment of embankment carrying East Lancashire Railway over
River Ogden and past east side of Higher Mill, Helmshore, 1848; Engineer
J.S. Perring. Rock-faced stone. Each viaduct of 7 segmental arches carried
on battered piers with dressed springing, band, and parapet coping continued
along revetment. Slightly curved line; forms linking backdrop to Higher Mill
(q.v.) at south end and associated houses on Holcombe Road (q.v.), at north
end.
