Stone gate piers and wrought iron gates, late C19. Four square gate piers,
the inner pair c.3 metres high, the outer slightly lower, all with fielded
panel sides, prominent pyramidal caps. Elaborate iron gates with flowing
foliated scrolls along the top rail; the left main gate carries at its locking
end a spear finial with a moulded coat of arms, the right has in the centre a
moulded cartouche containing raised lettering which states that the site of
the park was presented by the families of the Stotts and the Smiths. (Stott
and Smith, woollen manufacturers, Syke Side Mill, Manchester Road, q.v.).
