Miller's cottage, now house. Dated 1799 on porch, but incorporating some
earlier fabric; altered. Sandstone: front and gables of regular coursed
blocks, rear of random rubble, with quoins; slate roof with brick chimneys.
L-plan: 3 bays with rear wing to left half. Two storeys; in 1st bay a
single-storey gabled porch with oval panel on lintel inscribed 1799 (with a
flourish each side) and red tiled roof, and flanking this fixed windows
with 4 and 6 panes; further right a vertical joint to half height with long
and short stones suggesting the left jamb of a former wagon entrance, a
3-light casement in this part and a 2-light sliding sash to the 3rd bay; at
1st floor, sliding sash windows of 3, 3, and 2 lights. Rear: rear wing
mostly random rubble but raised by 5 courses of masonry like the front;
doorways into wing and 3rd bay, one small window on each floor. Interior:
altered, but 3rd bay contains one exceptionally large chamfered beam.
History: associated with windmill which formerly stood a few metres to
north.
