Vicarage, probably 1836. Punched dressed sandstone blocks, slate
roof on 2 levels hipped at left end, with a chimney on the ridge and
another on the intermediate gable. L-shaped plan, with short projecting
gabled wing on the left, lower service wing continued to the right. Two
storeys: 1st floor band, deep moulded kneelers and projecting gable
copings; round-headed doorway in re-entrant (now covered by glazed
porch) has large lintel which, like most window heads, is scored to
resemble splayed voussoirs, and above the band has a low solid
pediment. To the left the gabled wing has one narrow window; to the
right is a blind window at ground floor and a sashed window with
glazing bars at 1st floor, and beyond this the service wing has altered
ground floor openings and 2 very low sashed windows with glazing bars
above. Left return has 2 windows on each floor. Rear (on sloping site)
has rubble basement with 2 barred windows flanking a door with Tuscan
surround, 2 large triple-sashed windows at ground floor and 2 similar
but lower windows at 1st floor, 2 sashed windows with glazing bars on
each floor of service wing. Interior: staircase flush with front wall
has stick balusters and curtail.
