House, formerly toll house, early C19th. Squared sandstone with slate
roof. Octagonal plan. 2 storeys. The 3 sides facing the main road
have windows with plain stone surrounds: the outer sides with one on
each floor, the central side with one on the ground floor only. The
adjacent walls on each side are blank Of the 3 sides at the rear
(north-west) of the building the right-hand one has a door with plain
stone surround now blocked to form a window, and a modern 1st floor
window. The central side has a modern 1st floor window, and the left-
hand one is covered by modern extensions. On Marsden to Long Preston
Road, with Turnpike act of 1803.
