Farmhouse, C17, enlarged and altered in C19 and C20. Roughcast brick, slate
roof. L-shaped plan: 2-bay baffle-entry front range extended to 3 bays, with
rear wing to 1st bay. Two storeys, with chimneys at left gable and on ridge
at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays, front door in modern porch (replacing former
2-storey porch) at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays, another door to 1st bay, this
and the window to the left covered by modern glazed lean-to, three 4-pane
sashes on each floor. Left return wall has 2 windows on each floor, those to
the rear wing both sliding sashes with small panes. The interest resides
mainly in the interior, where most of the original timber structure of the
floors and partitions survives: housepart in 2nd bay has firehood bressumer
and 2 beams all with stopped 1/4-round moulding; rear wing has 2 large
cambered beams with stopped ovolo moulding; 1st floor has timber-framed
partition walls, and in 2nd bay 2 large beams with cyma-stopped chamfer.
