War Memorial, 1920 with medieval remains. Sandstone. A chamfered octagonal
cross base, removed from its former position in front of the demolished
Town Hall, stands on 2 steps of square plan. Above is a tapering octagonal
shaft, of 1920, with a head of square plan under a gable, carved with
figures. It is surmounted by a cross. On the east side of the octagonal
base is a plaque inscribed: 'Re-erected in 1920 to the Heroes of the
Parish of Hornby.' On the west side a plaque records the dead of the
1939-45 war.
