House. C16 or earlier. Timber framed and exposed close studding with
plaster infill, and part clad with red brick. Plain tiled roof. Two
parallel ranges. The southern range of 1 storey and attic with hipped
roof and gablets, 3 hipped dormers and stack cluster to rear left, and
stacks to rear centre and rear right. Four light mullioned window
and hipped porch to right with boarded door. The rear range of 2
storeys with tile hanging, and pendant gable is the original house
range, the present entrance front a former barn, converted for Noel
Coward, who ran house, barn and adjoining cottage together as a single
dwelling 1927-30, now 2 houses (see Goldenhurst Manor). Coward lived
here 1926-56, his main residence outside London and Switzerland.
