Built by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1912 in Queen Anne style. 2 storeys, attic and
semi-basement. Red brick with long and short stone quoins. Stone stringcourse.
Coved wooden eaves cornice. Hipped tiled roof. Sash windows with glazing
bars. The entrance front has 7 windows. 3 centre window bays project with
quoins at the angles. 2 hipped dormers, the centre one with pediment over.
Stone doorway with broken curved pediment, the doorway approached by a flight
of 11 wide steps with handrail. The garden front has 6 windows with a sundial
in the centre and below it a stone panel containing swags and festoons of fruit.
4 dormers. Wide flight of steps from the garden leads up to the 3 centre window
bays. The south side has 5 windows and 3 dormers; also a stone panel in the
centre with swags and festoons of fruit. Internal panelling said to have been
brought from a demolished building in St James' London. Gardens by Gertrude
Jekyll.

The Salutation, Salutation Cottage and gateway and outbuildings form a group.
