School. 1884 with later additions. By Edgar Wood. Brick with
slate roof. 20 bays and 2 storeys with a hall at first floor
level raised above an arcaded undercroft, 4-bay additions to
left and right, and boys' and girls' porches at the rear
which enter at first floor level. Symmetrical elevation with
8 round-arched openings on the lower level (3 now windows).
First floor dogtooth band and casement windows to second
floor with segmental brick arches and stone sills. Each 4
end bays are advanced and gabled and the additions are also
gabled and employ similar details. A stone reads "Rhodes
Schools built in affectionate remembrance of Salis Arthur
Schwabe by his mother and brothers". Steeply pitched roof
with crested ridge tile and ridge chimney stacks. A central
bellcote no longer exists. 4 large gabled dormer windows to
rear. Large roof trusses with king posts and braced tie
beams.
