House. "Ga Gartside May 1669" on relocated tablet, but
possibly dating from early C17. Late C19 addition. Squared
rubble (partly rendered) with rock-faced stone addition and
slate roof. Central unit of original house with its 2-
storey porch and part of right cross wing remain whereas the
left was demolished to accommodate the C19 addition. Porch
has quoins, a hoodmould which rises above a moulded door
surround with Tudor-arched lintel, inscribed tablet,
cavetto-moulded mullion first floor window with 3 arched
lights and a flat hood, and a coped gable with kneelers. The
house-part has a 4-light double-chamfered mullion and
transom window with a flat hoodmould and a 3-light double-
chamfered first floor window. Chimney stack to right with
diagonally set shaft. The gabled cross wing has been reduced
in size but retains a 2-light double-transom stair window at
the rear as well as other original windows. Chamfered floor
beams to house-part which retains a moulded fire surround.
The house may date from a conveyance of 1612.
