Terrace of houses, formerly silk mill workers' cottages. C1840.
Brick in English garden wall bond; graduated slate hipped roof.
Single-bay double-depth plan, except No.1 which is double-fronted.
2 storeys. 8 ridge stacks, top corner removed front: all windows
with stone sills and painted lintels, and (with exception of No.9)
with 12-pane hornless sashes; doorways with round-headed arches, all
(except No.9) with boarded doors and ceiled tympana. Despite renewed
joinery, No.9 retains its window and door openings intact. Rear:
windows with elliptical arches, no extensions. Privy blocks survive
with curtilage walling intact. Internal fittings are understood to
survive in some of the houses. A rare survival of relatively
unaltered industrial workers' housing.
