Drinking fountain with canopy in form of ancient market
cross. 1883. Stone with pyramidal stone slate roof.
Elliptical arches to all sides with cartouche keys. Much
Jacobean ornament, beasts in spandrels, cornice over and
alternate masks and mermaids above; Liverpool arms to south-
east. Inscription reads "ERECTED\BY THE PEOPLE
OF\GATEACRE:IN MEMORY\OF JOHN. H.:WILSON\1883". Strapwork
cornices and gargoyle to north. Ball finial to roof.
