Former Saddleworth Bank Premises and shop. Late C18 with
extensive alterations of C19. Hammer-dressed watershot stone
with graduated stone slate roof. 2-bay 2-storey C18 back-to-
back cottages which were put under a single roof in C19.
Quoins. Former bank door to left with square-cut surround.
Dressed door surround to right. Paired sash and shop window
to ground floor and 2 sash windows to first floor. Gable
chimney stacks. Blocked taking-in door to right elevation.
Buckley Roberts and Co (Saddleworth Bank) used the premises
from 1813 to 1840 later becoming the Joint Stock Bank,
Manchester County Bank and eventually the National
Westminster Bank. (Included for group value.)
