House. Late C15 - early C16, extended C17, part rebuilt C19, refurbished mid
1980s. Originally timber-framed, with cruck truss still exposed in left gable,
post frame and truss exposed in right gable, and timber-framing surviving in
rear wall of right bays. Otherwise rebuilt in brick. New thatch roof
1986. Rebuilt brick chimney shaft between left bays, in line with semicircular
rubble stone projection containing oven and faggot chamber. 1 1/2 storeys; 3
bays. C20 3-light horizontal sashes, 3 to ground floor, 2 to first floor right
in eyebrow dormers. Flush-panelled door between right bays. Oven projection
has small external rectangular opening to faggot store. Later brick lean-to
with slate roof at right end of house. Interior contains another cruck truss
between left bays, and a post truss between right bays. Post trusses are com-
posed of rough wavy timbers with inset principals almost ogee in shape.
Original purlins, that to centre bay with one chamfered curved wind-brace.
Chimney has altered fireplaces, that to left bay retaining base of firehood but
with upper part of hood removed.
