House, now social club. 1834. For Crompton family,
founders of Stoneclough Paper Mill. Brick with stone
dressings, slate roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays, 2nd bay breaks
forward, recessed bay to right has added 2nd storey. Stone
base, 1st floor sill band and top frieze and cornice.
Windows have gauged-brick flat arches and sashed with
glazing bars; central bay of 1st floor window in architrave.
End bay of ground floor has canted bay window. Windows to
right return of 3rd bay. Entrance has Ionic porch with
paired columns. Segmental fanlight with glazing bars;
doorcase has glazed side panels and paired 3-panel doors.
Rear has central conservatory. Left return has C20
extension of no special interest.
Converted to residential dwellings in 2000.
